SASSA announces LATEST Christmas SRD payments in 2024

The agency disclosed information regarding Christmas SRD payments in 2024 this week, and we have the final pay dates of the year for your reference.

The R370 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, which was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, is disbursed by the South African Social Security Agency and is exclusively available to individuals with a monthly income of less than R624.

According to the most recent data from the Department of Social Development (DSD), 19 137 524 of the 28 million grants that are disbursed each month are classified as “core” grants, including Old Age and Child Support.

The remaining amount of 8 996 341 is exclusively allocated to Christmas SRD installments in 2024.

CHRISTMAS SRD PAYMENTS IN 2024

The agency has now announced the definitive date for Christmas SRD disbursements in 2024 (as depicted above). They are scheduled to continue for several days this week, concluding on Monday, December 23, 2024. Beneficiaries of SRD grants are required to verify their monthly status on a monthly basis. In fact, that search term is one of the most prevalent online in South Africa this year. There is no numerical value.

• December: From Tuesday, December 17, 2024, to Tuesday, December 23, 2024.

Post-Christmas SRD payments have not been disclosed in the New Year. However, we anticipate that they will revert to their previous state during the final week of each month, typically beginning on the 23rd.
